When Tom Brady revealed that he would be playing football again just 40 days after his original retirement announcement, fans were thrilled to hear that the NFL legend was returning to the field. However, as preseason practice began to take shape, it appears the decision may have negatively affected another longtime fan: his wife of more than a decade. Gisele Bundchen. A source told him EXCLUSIVELY hollywoodlife that Gisele is adjusting as best she can, but Tom’s ‘retirement’ hasn’t been ‘easy’ for the supermodel.
“Gisele did her best to accommodate Thomasdecision to return [to the NFL] but it hasn’t been easy for her because that wasn’t her deal,” the source explained. “She’s a very supportive wife, but she also tells the truth about herself, so there’s been a lot of tension since he came back. She needed to take some time for herself and Thomas is to respect that.”
“Taking Some Time” also included Giselle leaving her home in Tampa to stay in Costa Rica. However, the superstar couple, who share a son Benjamin and daughter viviana – have weathered a storm or two before, and always come out on top, according to the source. “This is not the first time they have had problems and they have always gotten through it, so everyone is hopeful that they will get over it too,” the source added.
Speculation of trouble in paradise began in August after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced that Tom was taking a temporary break from the NFL to deal with a personal matter. The coach went on to say that he, Tom and the team discussed the absence before training camp. “We allocated this time because he wanted to get in there and have chemistry with the guys and get through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn’t going to play the first two games,” Bowles said.
While he didn’t offer any other details about the “personal matter,” Bowles had this to say: “[Tom] He didn’t want to take reps from Blaine. [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask] as well as griff [Ryan Griffin] as far as getting into these next two games. And it’s something he needs to handle.” He also added that he “isn’t worried” about Brady’s absence, or his engagement, based on his conversation. Tom has not yet commented on the absence.
In March, Brady re-signed with the Buccaneers after a brief “retirement” from the sport. The seven-time Super Bowl champion took to Twitter to reveal what caused him to change his mind. “These last two months I have realized that my place is still on the pitch and not in the stands. That time will come. But it is not now. I love my teammates and I love my family who supports me. They make it all possible. I will be back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
