Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim make a dynamic team

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors of his generation. In addition to war movie experience, his resume is packed with a wide variety of roles: from crime videographer Louis Bloom (‘Nightcrawler’) to Mysterio (‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’), Gyllenhaal is a choice. fantastic to play Sergeant John Kinley. Joining Gyllenhaal is Dar Salim, as Afghan performer Ahmed. The two characters did not like each other at first, but were forced to work together. Through the film, the bond grows stronger as they learn to trust each other.

Salim talks about the key to playing Ahmed:

“He’s someone you can relate to. He is a guy who will do anything to keep his family safe. He just wants to give his children the opportunities that he himself does not have. But even such a man, when he is faced with the final decisions, is a reminder that most of us have goodness in us and that we will do the right thing at the time. That is the mirror of the relationship between those two men. That was the key to playing Ahmed, I think.”

Guy Ritchie Takes a Different Screenwriting Process With This Movie

For this film, director Guy Ritchie took a slightly different approach to the script. It wasn’t a fully finished script, but the director knew what story he wanted to tell and where he was going with it. Every morning, he would discuss the scenes with the actors: how to work on them, get ideas from them. From there, the director would write scenes, making any necessary edits or changes as they came up.

Jake Gyllenhaal talks more about his experience on set and the different process:

“Then when we got there, it was a process of, ‘Okay, come on set. Here are today’s scenes. How do we start working on them? What are your ideas?’ So he would write in the morning. He writes very fast. He would write in the morning and he would write the scene for us. He would either change the scene or edit it, or sometimes he would write everything based on his thoughts from the night before or our conversations. Then we would go out and play “The next day we’d add to the board. As the board got bigger, I could have more to play with and references that we’d made. Then we’d start to tell the story that once existed as the foundation of a home.”
