Inside the Prudential Center on September 23, Shakur Stevenson takes on Robson Conceicao. It’s a homecoming fight for New Jersey-born Stevenson.
Stevenson, a 2016 Olympic silver medalist, won the WBO featherweight title in 2019 against Joet Gonzalez. In 2021, Stevenson won the WBO interim junior lightweight title against Jeremiah Nakathila. Later that year, he defeated Jamel Herring to become the regular champion. In his last fight in April, Stevenson defeated Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision to win the WBC and The Ring junior lightweight titles.
Stevenson was set to defend the WBC, WBO and The Ring junior lightweight titles, but was stripped of the belts when he missed weight for the fight. Only Conceicao can win the belts.
Conceicao made his professional debut in 2016. In 2021, Valdez beat him for the WBC title. Conceicao bounced back in January with a unanimous decision win over Xavier Martinez.
