Traffic will be affected on the northbound I-25 on-ramp at North Academy Boulevard on September 21 — Colorado Department of Transportation

El Paso County – The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor SEMA Construction will temporarily close the N. Academy Blvd. entrance ramp to northbound I-25 overnight for paving operations on Wednesday.

Project description

The I-25 Ramp Metering Project will widen ramps and install ramp metering along southbound I-25 and Woodmen Rd. Northbound entrance ramp and southbound Academy Blvd. entrance ramps and northbound North Gate Rd. entrance ramp

The project will improve safety for Colorado’s traveling public. The construction of the ramp widening and metering devices will make the highway safer by improving traffic flow and safety by providing more spaces for traffic merging, provide automated monitoring, and be triggered by the average traffic speed of traffic. I-25. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology will also be installed, including video cameras, computers, vehicle detection, variable message signs and alternative routing.

The right lane on westbound North Academy Boulevard will be closed in conjunction with a full closure of the northbound I-25 on-ramp.
