Look, if the media has taught us anything, it’s that we’re one bad virus away from a zombie apocalypse. At this point, we are on a countdown clock. As a result, we must be prepared for whatever comes our way. So with that in mind, we are going to show you some games that will help you prepare to survive the walking dead.
#15 Unstirred

In Unturned, you get a bit of a different look for a zombie game. You will see what we mean in the image above.
Anyway, you are in a world that is full of zombies and there are not many survivors. So your goal is as simple as it can be, you must not only stay alive, you must remain motionless. It’s not the easiest thing in the world when the world itself is trying to convert you.
You will need to get supplies to survive anyway, then go and fight the zombies if they try to attack you. Do what you need to survive.
#14 Disassemble

Dysmantle casts you as a person who has been in a shelter for years after the end of the world happened, when you emerge, you find yourself on an island that is nowhere near what you remember the world to be. There are all kinds of monsters out there that are trying to kill you, and you have to do what you can to survive and get out.
The world itself isn’t just expansive, it can apparently be broken down by 99%, meaning you’ll never run out of supplies if you’re smart enough. Just be careful, the place is full of monsters, so if you want to survive, you will have to survive them.
Enjoy the apocalypse you entered!
#13 Scum

Scum is an online multiplayer game that gives you a deep world to play while trying to survive the “entertainment”, and also gives you a very solid character customization process for you to choose the character you really want to be. .
And to show you just how chaotic the game is going to be, the title can carry up to 64 different players, all of whom will be crafting, collecting, and killing to make sure they’re in the loop when the game is over.
So who’s ready to be the scum of the Earth?
#12 Strange Brigade

What’s that? Do you want a zombie game that has a little more adventure? Sure, we can find one for you. How about Strange Brigade?
This game casts you as a trio of adventurers who have discovered that the remains of an ancient evil ruler of Egypt have been released! And with her has come her undead army! Only the Strange Brigade has the tools and skills to put her back in the ground for good!
The game will send you to countless places where you have to go and solve puzzles, fight monsters, survive traps and more.
#11 Night of the Dead

Your name is Lucy, and after being part of an experiment, you are now trapped on a zombie island, and you have to get out!
Every night the zombies will come and you will need to make sure you are stocked up and ready for them. During the day, get supplies, including things you can use for offense and defense, as well as getting things like food and water so you can get through the overall experience.
Then when night comes, make sure your fortifications are ready for whatever comes and take on the horde of zombies. Learn more about the island, communicate with those outside, and most importantly, survive.
#10 Z-Day

In the real world, if a zombie apocalypse were to happen, we’d only get one chance to get it right, otherwise we’d be dead or turned. DayZ puts that to the test by having games that get no saves and no checkpoints, he lasts as long as he can and if he dies he starts over from scratch.
Added to this is the element of online multiplayer. Will you try to trust your fellow survivors in the game? Or will you be betrayed by them, or will you betray them first so you know there is no other threat to your existence?
This game will test how much or how little you will do in the zombie apocalypse, so be prepared for that.
#9 Zomboid Project

Project Zomboid is a title that is “very focused on survival”. Because death in this game is a certainty, the only question is, “How long are you going to last?”
You will be placed in two different cities and you will not only have to search for supplies, but also build defenses so that when the zombie horde inevitably closes in on you, you will be ready for it.
The world of Project Zomboid is constantly growing and evolving, to the point where you’ll have to deal with physical and mental ailments, as well as endure the stress of trying to get through another day.
But whether you do or not… is another story entirely…
#8 7 days to die

7 Days To Die is a game where MANY players can band together to try and survive the zombie apocalypse they find themselves in. There are many miles of gameplay here to explore, find supplies, build shelters and fortifications, fight both zombies and humans, etc!
You can team up with other players or work alone to survive. Millions have played this game, and it might be time for you to become one of them.
#7 The dead lift 3

Let’s start with a slightly unpopular choice because Dead Rising 3 is very much the “black sheep” of the Dead Rising family. Mainly because it introduces a character that is NOT Frank West…and fans weren’t exactly happy about that.
Still, zombie slaying is prevalent at all times, and with a small window of time for you to get out of a city full of zombies, you’ll need all the tools you can get your hands on to survive. So find and create your own and take it to the horde!
See how creative you can be with your weapons and make sure no zombies are left standing in your way to freedom.
#6 days gone

In Days Gone, you’ll find yourself on the sidelines of Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter/drifter who’s been missing a lot in the worst of ways. He has lost faith in almost everything due to how fast the world fell after a pandemic.
Sounds familiar…
Regardless, you’ll be in his shoes and on his motorcycle as he zips through the landscape and makes his way. You can help those in need or bring down those who oppress others. Like the mutated Freakers who are an ever-evolving threat in this game.
So if you’re looking for a more somber zombie experience, here you go.
#5 Dying Light

The original Dying Light came out quite a while ago (and was apparently “finished” recently…) and places you in a town where a mysterious zombie outbreak has occurred. You’re under orders to get information and make it out alive, but things go a little awry when zombies start attacking and the uninfected people in town need your help.
Use a variety of parkour skills to move around the city and avoid combat with zombies. Or load up an arsenal of weapons to take down the zombie threat and accomplish your goals.
But how you achieve those goals is up to you. So make choices you’re comfortable with… but be prepared to face the consequences of them no matter what.
#4 Dying Light 2

Now for a recent game that came out. Dying Light 2 took the premise of the original game and added even more content and depth to it through not only more dangers to face, but also more choices to make in the new environment you find yourself in.
You will be placed in a city that faces both human and zombie dangers. You yourself are on a mission to find someone who can help you with your own problems, but to get what you need, you’ll need to wander the city and survive jobs and zombie attacks!
Use a variety of weapons, parkour, and more to pull it off. But there is a problem, you are an infected person and you must take care of the clock, otherwise you will become a complete zombie.
That would be bad…
#3 Dead Island Definitive Edition

Dead Island Definitive Edition is the best version of a game that was supposed to have a sequel… and yet never did for some reason. We’ll add that to the mysteries of the gaming universe.
Anyway, in the title you go on vacation to an island, except… when you wake up after a break… the island is now full of zombies! So… good luck with that!
Seriously, you have to get off the island, and since escaping is your only way forward, you’ll have to kill the zombies that are trying to stop you. You can play the title solo or with a co-op partner, whatever it takes to get off the island alive.
#2 Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is a game that many did not give the opportunity to appreciate for one reason or another. But that’s the good news, if you didn’t try it then, you can try it now and check out the insanely fun and wacky game that honestly should have set the world on fire more.
You see, a “reaction” to a certain energy drink has turned much of the world into monsters. But not you! You got some special powers and abilities and now you are living your best life as a person who eliminates these monsters.
You’ll be able to use a variety of weapons and abilities to take on the creatures, as well as roam the deep city you’re in. It’s crazy, it’s colorful, it’s perfect for those who want to have fun.
#1 State of decomposition 2

If you’re looking for a real experiment in how you’ll survive the zombie apocalypse, State of Decay 2 might be worth a look.
Because in this game, you will actually be tasked with managing a small community of people who are trying to survive the apocalypse. As long as you govern their lives and decisions and help them grow, get the supplies they need, and yes, fight zombies.
Your decisions will affect lives, so make sure you know who you’re using, who you can really trust in a fight setting, and when to get up and leave when the dangers are too much.
How long you survive is literally up to you. Good luck.
