“The least I can do is take care of the children’s education”

Legendary India National Cricket Team batsman Virender Sehwag has offered great help to the orphans of the Odisha train crash. On Sunday June 4, the 44-year-old took to Twitter to offer free education to the children of those killed in the Odisha train tragedy.

On Friday June 2nd, a horrific train accident took place in Odisha, which many call India’s biggest rail disaster. It is also the world’s deadliest train accident since 2004.

More than 275 people have died while more than 1,170 have been injured in the train disaster. Notably, three trains – Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah super-fast and a freight train – were involved in a mass collision near Bahanaga Bazar station in Odisha’s Balasore district.

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag, who represented the India national cricket team in 104 Tests, 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is, shared the image of the train tragedy on Twitter, stating that the image will haunt many for a long time.

We are in this together – Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag further wrote that the least he can do during these difficult times is to provide free education to the children of the deceased victims at the Sehwag International School boarding school.

“This image will haunt us for a long time. In this hour of grief, the least I can do is take care of the education of the children of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident. I offer these children free education at Sehwag International School boarding school,” Virender Sehwag tweeted.

“Also salute all the brave men and women who have been at the forefront of the rescue operations and the medical team and volunteers who have been donating blood voluntarily. We are in this together,” added Virender Sehwag.

Apart from Virender Sehwag, several Indian cricketers expressed their grief for the victims of the Odisha train tragedy.

“Heartbreaking to see disturbing images coming from Odisha. My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this terrible incident, and I wish a speedy recovery to all those injured,” Shubman Gill tweeted.

“Deeply shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking train accident in Odisha. Heartfelt condolences and prayers to those affected. May strength and support surround all involved. I salute those who have come to help,” KL Rahul tweeted.

“My heart goes out to each and everyone affected by the train accident in Odisha. May God give strength to bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” India captain Rohit Sharma tweeted.

“Saddened to learn of the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and I wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” Virat Kohli tweeted.
