Disney+ Day 2022 is an annual event held on September 8 to showcase everything the streaming platform has to offer its growing fan base.
The one-day event marks the launch of original shows, movies and specials, as well as the premiere of several offerings from The Walt Disney Company’s major brands: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
Disney+ Day is primarily for the benefit of subscribers, as they can not only witness surprise announcements, but also benefits and special promotions for their membership.
The 2022 event marks the second annual Disney+ Day, and for the first time, Disney has brought the event up two months before the streaming giant’s anniversary.
It will take place one day before the start of Disney’s mega three-day D23 Expo.
Here are the movies, shows, and specials coming to the streaming platform on Disney+ Day 2022 this September.
Thor: love and thunder
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie will make its streaming debut on September 8, as part of the Disney+ Day celebration.
Thor: love and thunder was released in theaters worldwide on July 8, 2022 to positive critical reception. Unfortunately, its premiere was canceled in Malaysia after some postponements. Directed by Taika Waititi, it is the 29th MCU film by release and chronologically follows the events of avengers endgame (2019).
Its story revolves around Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who must stop Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) from killing all the gods. In his search for him, Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who has become Mighty Thor wielding a rebuilt Mjolnir.

Marvel Studios Reunited: The Making Of Thor: Love And Thunder
Also coming soon to Disney+ Day is a behind-the-scenes feature on the making of Thor: love and thunder. It’s set to reveal the process Waititi went through to film the superhero movie. The director joins Hemsworth, Portman, Bale and Thompson in in-depth interviews that reveal more about the film. It will also include raw and previously unseen footage from the set.

pinocchio has long been touted as one of the biggest Disney+ releases of 2022. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the live action is an adaptation of Walt Disney’s 1940 animated film of the same name, which was based on the 1883 book by the Italian author Carlo. Collodi.
pinocchio is about the main character (voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), a wooden puppet made by Geppetto (Tom Hanks), who is brought to life by The Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo). Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory
Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory is a National Geographic program. Follow 29-year-old explorer Bertie Gregory and his team from the frozen terrain of Antarctica to the diverse geographic landscape of Zambia in Africa.
The show’s focus is to highlight wildlife in its most natural moments, as well as the threats they face from climate change and human interventions. Gregory captures the daily struggle for survival of animals, from lions to Cape buffalo, seals and sharks, in some of the harshest environments on earth, while facing incredible odds himself.
The Disney+ Day announcement also includes a special docuseries, Growing. Created by Brie Larson, it dives into 10 coming-of-age stories to reveal the struggles and courage of adolescence.
Growing it is described as part experimental, part narrative and part documentary. Also included are film performances to tell the stories of each of the featured individuals, who range in age from 18 to 22. Among other shows premiering on Disney+ Day 2022 this September is Miguel — an eight-episode limited series documenting the life of Mike Tyson (BJ Minor and Trevante Rhodes).
