Filming the MonsterVerse sequel Godzilla vs Kong 2 is already underway, with director Adam Wingard sharing the first images from the set. Taking to the official TikTok account for the monster movie, the filmmaker can be seen walking towards a soundstage before his casual stroll is interrupted by the roar of a kaiju. As the camera shakes, Wingard says, “Oh, the talent is here,” before running to the stage area and preparing to wow the audience once again with an epic mix of monsters. filming in Godzilla vs Kong 2 began in July on the Gold Coast, Queensland, with Godzilla vs. Kong Director Adam Wingard must take the reins again and continue with the MonsterVerse. Wingard will work from a script written by Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett.
Wingard’s first foray into the MonsterVerse, Godzilla vs. Kong, landed in theaters last year and finds legends collide as these mythical adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world at stake. Kong and his protectors embark on a perilous journey to find his true home, but unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, leaving a trail of destruction across the world. The epic clash between the two titans, instigated by unseen forces, is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the Earth’s core.
Godzilla vs. Kong received a generally positive response from critics and audiences alike, and broke several pandemic box office records, eventually grossing over $470 million worldwide and becoming a smash hit for HBO Max.
The plot and cast of Godzilla vs Kong 2 have been revealed
details about Godzilla vs Kong 2 have slowly started to appear, with the main cast and a plot outline now making their way online. Godzilla vs Kong 2 everything is ready to be directed by Legion Y Beauty and the Beast star Dan Stevens, who will be reunited with The guest Director Adam Wingard.
Stevens will be backed by the likes of Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) and Rachel House (on the hunt for the wild) alongside returning MonsterVerse cast members Rebecca Hall (the house of the night), Brian TyreeHenry (atlanta), and Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs. Kong). It is currently not known if Godzilla vs. Kong star Alexander Skarsgård will return, though it seems unlikely that Stevens will star in the sequel. MonsterVerse stars Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler are also not expected to return for the follow-up.
In addition to confirming the cast, an official plot synopsis has also been released and teases a Kong and Godzilla team-up.
“This latest entry follows the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, defying their very existence – and ours” .
