Stray Dogs’ Tony Fleecs Leads Variant Cover Show For Josh Williamson’s Dark Ride

CBR can exclusively reveal that Tony Fleecs is serving as art director for a variant cover show that pays homage to Disney’s posters for Skybound’s Dark Ride.

Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Star Wars Adventures) joins Skybound Entertainment dark ridea new horror series set in an amusement park in HeritageJoshua Williamson and Andrei Bressan, for a new variant cover show.

CBR can exclusively reveal that Fleecs is serving as art director for a classic homage poster variant cover show that appears in the first four issues of dark ride. Each variant will feature a different artist and will pay homage to a Disney theatrical poster that acts as the inspiration for the series. stray dogs co-creator Trish Forstner is the artist behind the dark ride Variant no. #1, “The Little Demon”, paying homage to 1989 The little Mermaid. dark ride The variant of #2 comes from Agnes Garbowska and pays homage to the one from 1991. Beauty and the Beastfollowed by dark ride #3 Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Andy Price tribute and dark ride #4 duck tales tribute to Dennis Culver.

“I have a secret superpower and I didn’t know it was something I could actually do until we made about 1 million horror movie covers for stray dogs; I know how to do the logo part of a tribute image… maybe better than anyone in the game,” Fleecs said. “I’ve been friends with Josh Williamson for years and I think he really liked the horror movie covers of Trish Forstner. and he had done it in our book Stray dogs. He asked me if we could take that kind of thing to dark ride but more or less the other way around: instead of cartoon versions of horror posters, horror versions of cartoon posters. So of course I called up some of my favorite artists. I am very excited to be working on this project and to be able to bring a group of great artist friends with me.”

dark ride #1 releases in October from Williamson (dark crisis), Bressan (justice league incarnate) and colorist Adriano Lucas. The issue’s synopsis reads: “Devil Land has been the world’s premier horror-themed amusement park for over 50 years, home to the scariest game ever created: The Devil’s Due. But when longtime fan Owen Seasons As your first day on the job begins, you’ll discover the true horrors going on behind the scenes, the truth about the park’s reclusive creator Arthur Dante, and that your dream job might just be a living nightmare.”


dark ride #1 features bonus cover and variant cover by Bressan, Lucas, Martin Morazzo, and Sweeney Boo. The issue also offers a blank sketch cover. dark ride #1 goes on sale October 5 from Skybound Entertainment.
