Gladiator fans will be pleased to know that Russell Crowe has been cast in a new movie. Variety has reported that Crowe has signed on to star in an upcoming crime thriller, sleeping dogswhere he will play a retired detective who re-investigates an old case to discover the truth before it’s too late.
sleeping dogs is based on EO ChiroviciThe 2017 novel “The Book of Mirrors”. The film will follow Crowe as Roy Freeman, a retired homicide detective who is “undergoing advanced treatment for Alzheimer’s.” When a death row inmate Freeman helped lock up begins to claim his innocence, Freeman begins to reexamine the circumstances of the case. With the help of his elderly parents, Freeman must fight to regain his memories and uncover the truth once and for all.
Crowe is an Academy Award-winning actor with an expansive career. He has done everything from historical epics like Gladiator to musicals like The Miserables to dramas like An amazing mind. sleeping dogs It won’t be the actor’s first foray into the crime thriller genre either, having previously starred in critically acclaimed crime films like the good guys Y LA Confidential. sleeping dogs will be the directorial debut of adam cooperwho co-wrote the script with his long-time writing partner invoice collage. Cooper and Collage have had a long writing career together, having penned action movies like assassin’s Creedbiblical epics like Ridley Scott‘s Exodus: gods and kingscomedies like Acceptedand even the classic movie Olsen Twins New York Minute. On Crowe’s casting, Cooper gave a statement, saying:
“Our memory of the past is what gives us the context of who we are. A character who lacks this ability comes with a very complex kind of humanity, and there’s no one better at embodying complex characters than Russell Crowe.”
Cooper and Collage will produce sleeping dogs beside Mark Fasano Y pouya shabazian for New Leaf Literary. The film’s executive producers will include matthew goldberg, cliff roberts, arianne fraser, delphine perrierY corbett ford.
