Shazam! Director David F. Sandberg Almost Made an Amazing Marvel Movie

Before Shazam! was a reality, apparently filmmaker David F. Sandberg met with Sony to make Poisonits Spiderman spinoff that eventually ended up grossing $856 million for director Ruben Fleischer. The filmmaker apparently read the Poison script and even met with Sony, but ultimately didn’t aggressively pursue the project because he was already close to doing Shazam!. The director revealed the near miss on Instagram, after being asked what attracted him to Shazam!and if he got another superhero shot at some point.

With the horror film Bone fides by Sandberg (directed Turn off the lights Y Creation of Annabelle before turning his attention to the DC Universe), could have been an interesting choice for Poison, which was as much a monster movie as it was a superhero movie. And while we can’t wait to see what Sandberg is cooking with Shazam!: Fury of the GodsIt is true that if I had Poisoncould have brought a sequel to theaters much faster.

“I read the script and had a meeting about Poisonbut he was already on his way Shazam!and I felt that I would rather do that than continue PoisonSandberg said, adding: “I thought Poison It turned out pretty good though.”
