As if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling stars as Ken in the new Barbie movie, now he’ll also sing for the soundtrack.
The highly-anticipated movie opens on July 21, and joining the Drive heartthrob will be 32-year-old Margot Robbie, taking on the formidable role of Barbie.
Not only that, but the fantastical dream world shown in the trailer, which already has us obsessed with it, will also be home to a variety of other familiar faces who are also, you guessed it, playing dolls.
These include Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, John Cena, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Dame Helen Mirren, and Will Ferrell.
Now that’s a lineup worth talking about.
With the release date drawing ever closer, the official soundtrack has already been revealed and we can’t wait to ring this out with our non-pink roadsters and, er, head over to the M25.
But just because we don’t live in Barbie Land doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun, as The Notebook’s Ryan, 42, will sample his voice on the album.
That’s how everyone is: Ryan. Gosling. Singing.
The movie made the announcement via Rolling Stone with a photo of Margot in character reading Barbie News, a fictional newspaper, guys, and on the back it says, “Barbie, album announces lineup!”
Along with Ryan’s name there are other singers such as Ava Max, Charli XCX, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, Fifty Fifty, Gayle, Haim, Ice Spice, Kali, Karol G, Khalid, Lizzo (!), Nicki Minaj, Pink Pantheress, Tame Impala, and The Laroi Boy.
And it looks like they’re not done, as the poster also stated that there are ‘more Barbie and Kens to be announced…’
The album is produced by Mark Ronson, so he’s got a bit of musical prowess behind him, if nothing else.
You can buy the album now on vinyl for $27.98 (£24.31), on cassette for $14.98 (£12.13), or on CD, also for $14.98 (£12.13).
But the options don’t end there, as the vinyl albums come in a variety of different shades of pink, from hot pink (available now), to dotted light pink, milky light pink, blossom pink, cotton candy pink and neon pink. . .
However, you will have to wait a bit for an extravagant color, since most of the pink shades will be available soon.
Let’s hope the movie lives up to all the hype, as director Greta Gerwig, the mastermind behind Little Women and the face of Frances Ha, previously teased to Dua Lipa on the singer’s podcast, At Your Service, it could be a “career”. ender’.
But Greta also insisted that this is the reason she knew she had to.
‘It was kind of exciting, so I had that terror. There’s something about starting from that place where it’s like, well, anything is possible,” she said.
‘I had what felt like vertigo when I started writing it, like, where do you start? What would the story be? I knew it would be a really interesting horror. That’s usually where the best stuff is.
“Anything where I’m like that could end my career, I probably should.”
The official synopsis reads: ‘To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a total existential crisis. Or are you a Ken.
The cast also includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Rhea Perlman, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Jamie Demetriou, Connor Swindells, Sharon Rooney, and many, many more.
