PS Plus is getting its first new batch of retro games since the revamped subscription service launched, along with one of the best shooters of 2021.
Among the stack of older PlayStation titles coming to PS Plus Premium this September are classic PS1 shooter Siphon Filter 2, PS3 platformer Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and another trio of platformers directed by raccoons at The Sly Collection. This marks the first time additional PS1 or PS3 games have been added to the PS Plus retro collection, after the August and July lineups left Premium subscribers out of the game.
There’s also a bunch of newer titles coming for PS Plus Extra members, including last year’s standout PS5 shooter Deathloop. Developed by the same studio behind Prey and Dishonored 2, it puts you in the shoes of a killer trapped in a time loop. All the usual immersive simulation features are there, including stealth mechanics and fabulous vertical level design, as well as a competitive multiplayer invasion mode.
A couple of Ubisoft games are also coming to PS Plus Extra. Assassins’ Creed Origins and Watch Dogs 2 will be added as part of the platform’s integrated Ubisoft+ component. The games were recently added to Microsoft’s rival Xbox Game Pass, marking a growing crossover between subscription platforms.
Three new games will also be added for PS Plus Essential subscribers. They include the 2019 racing game Need for Speed Heat, the fighting game spinoff Granblue Fantasy: Versus, and the monochrome photography puzzler Toem. All three will be available to claim until October 3.
The range of generations
Also coming to PS Plus for all Extra and Premium subscribers are the paint-based adventure game Chicory: A Colorful Tale, the bittersweet management sim Spiritfarer, and the wacky 2D platformer Rayman Legends.
