Alexis U’ilani “Lani” (Ah Mow) Beamer, 71, of Waimea, died May 3 at her home. Born in Honolulu, she was a stay-at-home mom, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sadako Iyo, 91, of Hilo, died on February 15. Born Captain Cook, she was a retired senior cashier at the former Food Fair Supermarket and a member of Hawaii Ballroom Dance. Chong Tom Poy, also known as Tom Poy Jr., 96, of Laupahoehoe, died May 21 at his home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired crane operator for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., long-time president of ILWU Unit 1106, president of the Laupahoehoe Pensioners Club, member of the North Hilo Community Council, the Hawaiian Civic Club of Laupahoehoe and US Marine Corps veteran visits from 8-10 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 10 am Graveside service with military honors at noon at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The burial will follow. Born on Molokai, she was a retired teacher at Konawaena High School, a member of the Kona Music Society, and served with Solid Rock Ministries in Kona. Rhoda Setsuko Sumiki, 76, of Honolulu, formerly of Papaikou, died May 19 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. A native of Hilo, she was a retired loan officer for the Federal Credit Union Water Supply Board and worked at the former HT & T Federal Credit Union in Hilo.
