Assuming the MonsterVerse sequel repeats the trend set by Godzilla: King of the Monsters Y Godzilla vs. Kong, the sequel should pit the two titular titans against a monster from Toho’s kaiju library. Kong himself doesn’t really have his own rogues gallery for Legendary, but Godzilla’s rich history in Toho movies provides the sequel with a sizable slate of candidates for Godzilla vs Kong 2 villain. As for which one he’ll pick, all sorts of names have been thrown into the discussion, including Destoroyah, Gigan, Biollante, SpaceGodzilla, Hedorah, Orga, Megalon, and even Mecha-King Ghidorah, with the latter being the least likely of all. the available options. So far, none of the aforementioned monsters have become clear favorites.
A new synopsis narrows down the list of villains who have the potential to be Godzilla vs Kong 2 central antagonist. According to a new report, Godzilla and Kong will face off “a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, defying its own existence and ours.” The revelation that the villain in question is a Hollow Earth Titan seemingly rules out two of the leading candidates, Destoroyah and Biollante. If done right, any of these monsters would have to be created by humanity, presumably within the events of the movie itself. After all, Biollante is a genetically engineered monster and Destoroyah was born from the use of the Oxygen Destroyer. Neither of them would work like the old titans.

It wouldn’t take much reworking for Gigan, SpaceGodzilla, Hedorah, or Orga to be introduced into the MonsterVerse as a Hollow Earth Titan. All four of them are aliens, but that’s not really a problem since it’s possible that, like Ghidorah, Godzilla vs Kong 2 villain crashed from outer space thousands of years ago. Whoever it is, it could have tunneled into the Hollow Earth at some point in the planet’s forgotten history.
The reveal that Godzilla and Kong will be fighting a “undiscovered threat” in Hollow Earth from the MonsterVerse helps paint a clearer picture of what Legendary has in store for audiences when Godzilla vs Kong 2 hits theaters. From the looks of it, the wait for Destoroyah and Biollante to join the MonsterVerse will be a bit longer, but the chances of SpaceGodzilla, Gigan, or Hedorah showing up in the movie haven’t been ruined just yet. While the list of candidates is a bit smaller now, the sequel still has at least a few interesting options to choose from.
