Disney and Pixar shared a new look at Elementary ahead of the film’s premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival tomorrow, May 27. The clip begins with Ember, a fire elemental, demonstrating his ability to change the color of his flaming body based on the type of ore he is standing on. This encourages Wade to show off a trick of his own, with the water elemental gliding across a pond to create a similar multi-colored rainbow.

This clip is indicative of the larger themes of Elementary, a film about finding common ground despite differences. Director and co-writer Peter Sohn based the film in part on his experiences growing up as the son of immigrants in the melting pot of New York City during the 1970s. Pixar’s latest animated film also draws inspiration from classic romantic films, including the 1967 release with a similar theme.Guess who’s coming to dinner.
After his debut in Cannes, Elementary will be released nationwide on Friday, June 16. In addition to Lewis and Athie, the film features the voices of Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, Joe Pera, and Matt Yang King. . The future of Pixar
Even so, the May 27 date for the Cannes premiere seems appropriate, since Elementary it is Pixar’s 27th feature film overall.
