The Chennai Super Kings, managed by MS Dhoni, once again proved why they are known as the best teams in the Indian Premier League. The team reached another tournament final by defeating Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 and will now await the outcome of Qualifier 2 which will take place between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on May 26, 2023. On top of it all, CSK captain MS Dhoni met the family of young Sri Lankan pacemaker Matheesha Pathirana.
Matheesha Pathirana’s sister Vishuka Pathirana and Chennai Super Kings on her official Instagram recently uploaded the pictures of the reunion. Sharing the photos, Vishuka captioned the post: “We are now sure that malli is in good hands as thala said ‘You have nothing to worry about Matheesha, he is always with me. These moments were even beyond what she had ever dreamed of.”

‘He will be a great asset to Sri Lanka’: MS Dhoni
“Make sure he is fit and available for all ICC tournaments and he will be a great asset for Sri Lanka. Not to forget he is a very young boy. Last time (in 2022) when he came he was a bit thinner , but he has added muscle which means he has become quite strong. I feel he will serve Sri Lanka cricket for a long time but we will have to watch how much he bowls”, MS Dhoni on Matheesha Pathirana after a match of Indian Premier League 2023.
The pictures are loved by fans on social media and once again this has shown the huge fan base of CSK captain MS Dhoni across the globe.
Looking at Matheesha Pathirana’s performance in the Indian Premier League, the young right-arm pacer from Sri Lanka has taken 17 wickets in the 11 matches he has played so far and his best figures are 3/15. Matheesha has been excellent at bowling with the new ball and it has many variations as well.
The right-arm fast bowler has bowled very good yorkers throughout the tournament at a good pace and reminds fans of former legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga, who used to bowl the smashing yorkers at serial pace.
The Chennai Super Kings finished at number two on the points table and will be playing their 10th Indian Premier League final on 28 May 2023. The ‘men in yellow’ under the leadership of Dhoni are also hoping to lift their fifth trophy of the tournament.
