Unlike the movies and comics, Marvel Games does not plan to create a multiverse between its various titles.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Marvel Games Vice President and Creative Director Bill Rosemann discussed whether titles like the recently announced Motive Studio Iron Man could evolve into a multiverse of its own, similar to the one seen in the comics and movies. Rosemann denied any such plans. He noted that while it is a concept that many audiences enjoy and respond well to, he felt it would be detrimental to the company’s overall goals.
“The world is surprisingly very familiar and accepting of the multiverse,” Rosemann explained. “We have all these different realities. They’re all real now, and we want to give everyone the freedom to tell their story. We don’t want to say, ‘You can’t blow up the moon, because this game is over.'” here for another study needs the moon.’ We want to give everyone the freedom and a clear path to tell their story.”
A large part of this is due to the sheer number of studios involved in Marvel-based games. Others, like the hit PlayStation game marvel spider manthey continue to expand with a recently released PC remaster and a highly anticipated sequel scheduled for 2023. Marvel Games’ new multi-title partnership with EA adds several new games to the mix, further complicating the possibility of bringing the various universes together.
