Florida baseball will face another win-or-go-home game Sunday night when it hosts Texas Tech at Condron Family Ballpark in the Gainesville Regional after defeating UConn 8-2 earlier in the day.

The Gators (46-15) lost 5-4 to Texas Tech on Saturday night and need to defeat the Red Raiders twice in a row to reach Super Regionals for the first time since 2018.

Lightning in the area forces the Gators-Red Raiders rematch to be delayed due to weather.

Florida’s rookie lefty Cade Fisher will get the ball against Texas Tech in Sunday night’s potentially season-ending game for the Gators.

Fisher is 5-0 on the season with a 3.58 ERA and 34 strikeouts.

Thanks to a pair of home runs off the bat of Jac Caglianone, who is now the Division I home run leader with 31 on the season, the Gators ousted the UConn Huskies with an 8-2 victory.

Florida will play Texas Tech on Sunday night at 6 as the Gators try to force the Monday game if necessary.

Florida sophomore Jac Caglianone picked up his second home run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning to add another pair of runs for the Gators.

Florida leads UConn 8-2.

Florida adds a run in the fifth. Tyler Shelnut hit a one-out double and scored on Ty Evans’ two-out RBI single. Gators 6, UConn 1 final 5th.

Jac Caglianone’s 30th home run of the season sparked a four-run fourth inning for the Gators. Wyatt Langford put Florida up 2-1 with a sacrifice fly, and Caglianone followed with a three-run homer off UConn left-handed reliever Zach Fogell, who threw 76 pitches Friday. Gators 5, UConn 1 finish 4th.

UConn starter Garrett Coe’s day ends at 3.1 innings after catching a back line drive from Florida second baseman Cade Kurland loading the bases. Coe was helped off the field by coaches and trainers. Righty Will Nowak enters for UConn out of the bullpen.

UConn tied the game in the top of the third on a double by Corey Martin and an RBI single by center fielder David Smith. Gators 1, UConn 1, mid 3rd.
