Leeds vs Tottenham LIVE Commentary: Whites on brink of relegation as Spurs aim for last place in Europe: kick-off time, team news and how to follow

Leeds will potentially play their last Premier League game when they bid to avoid relegation at home to Tottenham this weekend.

The Whites know their survival in the top flight is out of their hands after a 3-1 loss to West Ham left them languishing in the bottom three.

Sam Allardyce’s men are 19th in the table, behind Leicester on goal difference and two points behind Everton in safety.

Leeds will need to end their eight-game quest for a win when they take on Tottenham and hope results elsewhere go their way.

As long as they secure a win, the Elland Road side also need Bournemouth to take points away from Everton and Leicester to fail to beat West Ham.

But Spurs won’t be in the mood to do them a favor either: currently in eighth place they’ll need a win to have the best chance of overtaking Aston Villa for the last European spot.

Leeds vs Tottenham: match data

  • Rodrigo is Leeds’ top scorer in the Premier League this season with 13 goals in 30 games, as many as he scored in their previous two campaigns combined (13 in 57 games). He scored twice in the Whites’ 4-3 loss to Spurs in the reverse game, Brian Deane in 1994-95 being the last Leeds player to score home and away goals against them in the same campaign.
  • Harry Kane has scored in 25 different Premier League games for Tottenham this season, the most by any player in a 38-game campaign. A goal in this game will see him equal Andrew Cole’s overall record of 26 games scored in 1993-94.
  • Spurs striker Harry Kane has scored on the last day of the season in each of the last five Premier League campaigns. In total, he scored nine goals in the last round, and no player has scored more in the history of the competition.
  • Leeds have dropped 25 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, their most in a single campaign. They have lost five of their last 13 matches when they opened the scoring (4V 4E), as many as in the previous 36 in the top flight (25V 6E 5D).
  • Tottenham’s defeat would ensure they do not play in Europe next season, for the first time since 2009-10. In fact, it would mean they finish no higher than 8th, which would be their lowest finishing position since 2008-09 (also 8th).
  • Leeds will be relegated to the Championship if they fail to beat Tottenham, their seventh top-flight relegation overall and second from the Premier League after 2003-04.
  • Tottenham have lost their last league game in just one of the last 12 seasons (W9 D2), falling 5-1 to already-relegated Newcastle in 2015-16.
  • Leeds have lost their last league game in just one of the last 10 seasons, winning each of the last three in a row. As a top-flight team, Leeds have lost their last league game in just one of their last 15 campaigns (W7 D7), falling 1-0 to Chelsea in their 2003-04 relegation campaign.
  • Tottenham have won two of their last three Premier League away games against Leeds, as many as in their previous 15 visits to Elland Road (D6 L7). They have not won consecutive league games away from the Whites since October 1979.
  • Leeds have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games against Spurs (D1 L8), a 3-1 home win in May 2021.
