How to Sign Up for an Apple Developer Account

Apple is ready to introduce the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS (and possibly the virtual reality platform xrOS) at WWDC 2023.

Apple fans will get their first look at the next generation of Apple software on June 5, but as usual, they can wait four or five months to see all the exciting new features coming to their own devices this fall.

The good news for us less patient users is that there is actually a way around this timeline and that is to install the developer beta that is released during WWDC. However, not just anyone can get their hands on the software – read on to find out how to sign up for the Apple Developer Program.

What you will need:

  • An Apple account
  • Two-factor authentication enabled
  • $99

  1. Go to Apple’s Before You Enroll page and choose Begin Your Enrollment
  2. Enter your Apple ID and password
  3. Check the box if you agree to the Apple Developer Agreement
  4. Click Submit
  5. Press Enroll Now to verify your identity and pay

Do I need to sign up for the Apple Developer Program?

The Apple Developer Program gives Apple users early access to beta versions of the operating system, as well as access to more comprehensive development tools, advanced app capabilities and services, code-level support, and the ability to distribute apps. from the App Store and Safari extensions, among other things. However, registration costs $99 per year.

You can still access Xcode developer tools, Xcode betas, on-device testing, Apple developer forums, and bug reports with Feedback Assistant without joining the Developer Program.

How do I activate two-factor authentication?

To enroll in the Apple Developer Program, you’ll first need to turn on two-factor authentication.

You can do this by diving into your iPhone’s settings, tapping on your name, choosing Password & Security, and going to Two-Factor Authentication.
