How to make your Tesla Model 3 so fast it’ll make your insurance agent cry

The Tesla Model 3 Performance lowered by ‘B is for Builds’ cuts the 0-60 time by over a second to an impressive 2.46 seconds.

The gentlemen at B is for Build have lost weight, body panels, and a ton of safety equipment from their salvaged Tesla Model 3 Performance. All in an effort to achieve maximum acceleration and there is no doubt that they are already a success story from that perspective. His bare-body Model 3 just went from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) a full second faster than the regular version.

By normal version, of course, we mean a Model 3 Performance that includes a body, a complete interior and all its standard safety equipment. This car has none of that, and as such is probably one of the lightest Model 3s around. The fact that the team there even has it running is somewhat surprising given the number of sensors that need to be disconnected at this point.

Regardless of how exactly the team accomplished this feat, it’s impressive simply because of the time reduction. When they first tested this exact car, it did 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Now, without all the pieces, you can do the same thing in 2.46 seconds. That almost perfectly divides the 3.1 seconds that Tesla claims in perfect condition for the car.

Hacking a full second of such a run doesn’t sound too impressive, but consider this; that’s almost a third of his total time. As B is for Build founder Brian Steinbacher says in the video, “lightweight cars are the way to go.” In fact, reducing weight can be an inexpensive way to improve almost every performance metric, including braking and handling.

Is this really the world’s fastest Tesla Model 3? It’s hard to say. Don’t get us wrong. This is certainly a fun build, like most of the builds made by this channel, but calling it a Model 3 seems rather iffy.

At the same time, it’s not uncommon for cars that are rebodied like other cars to be called by whatever their base. After all, this is perhaps one of the fastest Model 3s in the world. However, we doubt many are willing to emulate the way this one turned so quickly.
