Microsoft recently shipped a major feature drop that brings tons of new features as well as improvements to Windows 11, version 22H2. The update, also “Moment 3”, has been in the testing phase via Windows Insider and the company started rolling it out to more users on May 24, 2023, as an optional update.
For those who don’t know, Moment is an internal codename that Microsoft uses to refer to new features and enhancements that it intends to include in the operating system. And as we’ve previously highlighted, the Moment 3 update brings with it a host of new features designed to improve the user experience.
This will be the second major feature that Microsoft will release this year. The company made the first drop earlier this year in February. Moment 2 introduced tons of new features as well as quality of life improvements like the injection of AI capabilities into the operating system that brought Bing Chat to the taskbar search box, Phone Link support for iOS and more.
Currently Moment 3 is an optional update, Microsoft intends to bring everyone to the latest version of Windows 11, version 22H2 via the next Patch Tuesday update, which is scheduled to start rolling out on June 13, 2023. And while you can choose to wait until Microsoft starts pushing this update out to everyone, you can go ahead and download it now.
The Moment 3 feature release ships with major updates to the widget panel in Windows 11, the reintroduction of the second clock that most users appreciated. In addition, the update is also extending the Live Captions feature in Windows 11 accessibility for more users. Once this update ships, the feature will be available in ten additional languages in 21 regions.
Microsoft is also changing the function of the Print key, after an eternity of using it to take quick screenshots. It will now launch the Snipping Tool, which also comes with a screen recording feature. However, you can go back to the previous arrangement through the Settings app.
Before you proceed to download and install the Moment 3 update on your Windows PC to access all of these features and more, you must first make sure that you meet the following requirements as highlighted by Microsoft:
Windows 11, version 22H2 is widely available to all users with eligible devices who check for updates. Microsoft brings continuous innovation to Windows 11 more often.
