It can be a bit annoying when trailers for movies and TV shows start playing automatically on Apple TV while you’re browsing. If this happens, you may want to turn off autoplay video previews on Apple TV.
The purpose of trailer previews is clear: to pique your interest in watching a new movie or show. However, you may find it annoying to deal with.

How to disable autoplay video sound on Apple TV
The autoplay feature in the TV app shows previews of Apple content. There are a couple of things you can do about autoplaying video previews on Apple TV.
One is to disable sound while maintaining video previews, and the other is to disable automatic sound and video altogether.
To disable autoplay video sound on Apple TV:
- Turn on your Apple TV and select the Settings application
- Scroll down the list and choose Applications.
- Under the Application Settings section, select the TELEVISION application
- Scroll down and uncheck the option auto play video sound option.
Once you complete the steps, Apple TV will still show video previews of the shows, but no audio will come out of your TV.
How to disable Apple TV’s video and sound autoplay settings
You can also disable the autoplay settings for video and audio on Apple TV.
To disable the autoplay settings for video and audio on Apple TV:
- Open the Settings application
- On the next screen, select the Accessibility menu option.
- Under the Vision section, select Motion.
- disable the Autoplay video previews option.
After following the steps, autoplay of video and sound will be disabled. Note that there will still be a static image of each show or movie, along with a description of what the show is about. But it will no longer start playing a video.
