How to be an active part of the Youth Olympic Games

Volunteers have been an integral part of the success of the Olympic Games since they were first used.

Now you can be a part of gangwon 2024 and make the Games happen.

The Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (YOCOG) is recruiting 2,000 volunteers and the contracting process is still open. you have until May 31, 2023 to submit your request.

There will be three different categories: professionals (who are fluent in English), general (over 19 years of age) and youth (between 15 and 18 years of age).

Selected volunteers will work in one of the four competition zones (PyeongChang, Gangneung, Jeongseon, Hoengseong) in very different areas: athlete support, media management, sports management, event/ceremony protocol, and regional orientation. They will be provided with uniforms, meals and shuttle buses. Accommodation will also be offered to those living outside the host cities.

What does it take to volunteer at Gangwon 2024?

All applicants based in the Republic of Korea must meet the following requirements:

  • Be available to participate in the selection and training process and in the volunteer activity period (January 16 to February 2, 2024) Note: dates may vary depending on assigned tasks
  • Be 15 years or older at the time of the competition
  • Being able to communicate in Korean and English.

Please note that applicants residing outside of the Republic of Korea can apply following these criteria: you must be 19 years or older at the start of the Games, speak English, and have a mobile phone from a Koran telecommunications company (for self-authentication) . ).

The selection process is open until May 2023. The first selection process will take place between June and July 2023. The interviews will take place between August and October 2023 and basic training is scheduled for the same period.

YOG volunteers selected to participate will receive an official notice by the end of October 2023.
