Ashley Ifeoma Madekwe was born on December 6, 1981 in London. Her father, Peter Madekwe, is of Swiss-German descent and her mother, Tracy Mansfield, is English. She grew up in a south London housing estate.
After earning an acting degree from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, he appeared in various roles in school stage productions.
