With ten wins from 14 games, Pandya-led Gujarat ranked first in the points table this season. Rohit Sharma’s IM, on the other hand, is currently sitting fourth in the standings with eight wins from 14 games.
GT won the toss and chose to bowl in the opening qualifier of IPL 2023 against Chennai Super Kings. In 20 overs, CSK scored 172 runs for the loss of seven wickets thanks to an 87-run starting position between Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gill scored 42 races from 38 deliveries in an effort to help GT cross the finish line. Ultimately, GT managed just 157 runs from 20 overs and lost the game by a margin of 15. The winning team will battle Chennai Super Kings for the IPL 2023 trophy on Sunday 28 May.

Five-time winners Mumbai Indians are on top after defeating the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, but as they now face the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, the defending champions may well be considered favorites for Qualifier-2 of Friday.
Hardik Pandya’s side missed the first chance to reach the IPL final when they faced Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk and they are hoping that home advantage will work for them this time. They will also be heartened by the fact that they beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs when the two teams met at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the league phase.
But Rohit Sharma’s side have been on their toes ever since, winning six of their eight games since.
