How have the Indians of Mumbai fared against the titans of Gujarat?

Mumbai Indians have a decent head-to-head record against Gujarat Titans in the IPL. MI won two of the three meetings between the two teams, while GT claimed a lone victory. However, that won’t count for much tonight in a do-or-die matchup with a final spot on the line.

The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will be looking to reach their seventh Indian Premier League (IPL) final when they take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the second IPL 2023 Qualifier at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, 26 March. May. A place in the final is at stake for both teams, who have enjoyed a great campaign so far.

While the defending champion Titans picked up where they left off last season by producing consistent results again this year, MI peaked late to qualify for the playoffs on the final day of the league stage. GT was the first team to reach the playoffs and was the only one to accumulate a staggering 20 points in its 14 games. However, a loss at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 1st Qualifier saw them miss out on becoming the season’s first-place finishers.

They now expect a tough challenge in the form of Mumbai Indians, who have found momentum with two wins in their last two matches and now look unstoppable. MI picked up an 81-run clinical victory in the Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants to set up a showdown with GT in the second Qualifier and will be looking to prevent GT from reaching its second straight final on Friday.

The rise of Akash Madhwal this season allowed the MI overseas duo of Jason Behrendorff and Chris Jordan to operate with more freedom while their hitting has soared as a unit in recent games. However, MI batsmen will be up for a tough test against GT who have a quality all-round bowling attack consisting of the likes of Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad amongst others.
