The European basketball tournament returns for the first time since 2017, and some of the biggest names in basketball will take part in this year’s competition.
Luka Doncic will look to lead Slovenia to back-to-back EuroBasket championships, but two-time NBA MVP winners Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) and Nikola Jokic (Serbia) will make their countries serious contenders. And let’s not forget France, an experienced squad led by Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier.

When is EuroBasket 2022? Dates for the European basketball tournament
- Group stage: September 1-September 8
- Knockout stage: September 10-September 18
The group stage for EuroBasket 2022 will start on Thursday, September 1 and end on Thursday, September 8. The knockout stage will begin on Saturday, September 10, and will end with the championship game on Sunday, September 18.
Which countries participate in EuroBasket 2022?
Twenty-four nations will participate in EuroBasket 2022. Those teams will be divided into four groups. (Full lists can be found here.)
Each team will play five games in the group stage. The top four teams in each group will then advance to the knockout stage and play win-or-go-home games until a champion is crowned.
