WWDC23 was more exciting than ever. But if you’re reading this, then you’re excited about the recently announced macOS Sonoma update for Mac. It comes packed with a ton of new features, and you can read about them right here.
So enough reading. You are wondering how you can download and install macOS Sonoma beta right now. Before you do that, there are a few things that need to be clear before you start the download.
First of all, the update is available to developers. only. Eventually, it will become available to public beta testers, usually after a couple of developer betas have been released. If you don’t have an Apple developer account, then you’re out of luck installing the beta right away. Sign up for the developer program with your Apple ID at this link.
Second, since this is beta software, you can expect a lot to go wrong while using it. This includes broken compatibility with third-party apps, poor battery life on a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, and even overheating issues in some cases. It feels embarrassing to say this, but things like this are completely normal when you’re beta testing.
Last but not least, you should have a Mac that supports macOS Sonoma beta. If your Mac is not on the list, then you cannot try the beta version. Download and install macOS 14 Sonoma Beta
Before you continue, make sure you have backed up everything. This includes your photos, downloads, important documents, whatever you have. You can upload them to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Google Photos, or just copy everything to an external drive. Whatever keeps your files and data safe, take this important step right now.
There are several ways to install macOS 14 Sonoma beta, but we’ll focus on the simplest method: wireless installation. This method will not erase anything on your Mac and will also keep your settings intact. Since this is beta software, please back up everything carefully before proceeding.
Route 1 – Apple Developer Program
Step 1. Sign in to the Apple Developer Program website by going here. Click on the Account at the top right and enter your login credentials.
Step 2. Once you are logged in, click on the Develop button in the top bar.
Step 3. In the list of options below the top bar, click on downloads.
Step 4. In the Downloads section, scroll down a bit and you will come to macOS 14 Sonoma beta. Click on the install profile button next to it.
Step 5. Once the profile is installed, just go to System Settings > General > Software update. Install the update as it appears.
Since the installation will take a while, make sure you don’t use your Mac at all. He wants everything to happen in the best possible way.

Step 4. Now select Beta Developer either public beta.
Step 5. Refresh the updates page and the latest macOS Sonoma beta update will appear.
Remember, if you choose the public beta, it will be available for download next month, in July. The developer beta is available starting today, but requires you to sign up for Apple’s developer program.
