1. Update Debian 11 Bullseye

Well, here it is not necessary because we are about to use the Deb binary of the software. However, to make sure your system has all the latest updates, run the given command once.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

2. Download Softmaker FreeOffice

Well, the open source office suite packages: LibreOffice are available through the default Debian 11 system repository, however, the same is not true for FreeOffice. Therefore, we need to download your Debian binary manually. We can use the SoftMaker repository method, however when doing this article it didn’t work. Here is the link to visit the Download page. 3. Install FreeOffice on Debian 11 Linux

Well, we have the FreeOffice Deb binary; now just run the provided DPKG command to install FreeOffice on Debian 11.

First, change to the Downloads directory because everything we download using the default browser goes there.

cd Downloads
sudo dpkg -i softmaker-freeoffice-*_amd64.deb

4. Run the Office package

Once the installation is complete to get started with the different FreeOffice applications, go to the Application Launcher and then search for it.

5. To update FreeOffice

If there is any new version available on the Softmaker website for FreeOffice, please visit it and re-download the latest version as we did before and install it in the same way as we did with DPKG.

6. Uninstall or remove FreeOffice from Debian 11

If you think Softmaker FreeOffice is not working for you and you want to remove it completely, here is the command to do it.

sudo apt autoremove --purge softmaker-freeoffice-2021
