Cody Rhodes out of action due to injury? 3 things that can happen on WWE RAW tonight

Despite injury, Cody Rhodes went to war against Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions this weekend. However, fans shouldn’t worry about the status of The American Nightmare.

Prior to Night of Champions, The Beast Incarnate launched a backstage attack on Cody Rhodes. During the action, the first aimed at the arm of the second. Later that night, Cody was seen with his arm in a cast and was even advised to miss the Saudi show, but he didn’t listen. Despite his will and determination, he was not enough to kill The Beast.

For those wondering, Cody Rhodes’ arm isn’t injured, and it’s for the story only. With this, let’s explore three possible things The American Nightmare could do on the May 29, 2023 episode.

#3. Cody Rhodes could challenge Brock Lesnar once again

The Stamford-based promotion has been known to drag out feuds until it reaches its trilogy. It’s also something The American Nightmare has gotten into in the past. During his feud with Seth Rollins last year, he faced The Visionary at WrestleMania 39, WrestleMania Backlash, and Hell in a Cell. From the looks of it, a third fight is not the most impossible.

For the next episode of WWE RAW, Cody could address the crowd about what happened at Night of Champions. He could reason that Lesnar got away with it easily since Cody was “injured”. Rhodes could issue a challenge for the upcoming Money in the Bank live premium event to settle the score.

#2. Take part in the Money in the Bank qualifying match on WWE RAW

One of the exciting moments fans are looking forward to on the next episode of WWE RAW is the Money in the Bank qualifying matches. No contestants have been announced for now, and The American Nightmare could use this to put their feud behind them.

It is possible that Cody Rhodes could enter one of the matches and move on to the most anticipated ladder match. A win at The O2 Arena could put a bigger target on his back and welcome further contention. On the other hand, a potential MITB contract win could also renew an unfinished feud with Seth Rollins.

#1. Cody Rhodes announces a brief time out of WWE

Although The American Nightmare is not injured, it is possible that the Stamford-based promotion could continue with this angle. This means that even if the 37-year-old isn’t out of action, he could be out for an episode or two.

Dave Meltzer even reported on this possibility on a previous edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Cody’s absence could further sell his “injury” and paint him as a superhero. Once he is fully healed, he could finally challenge Brock one more time or maybe another superstar.
