Back from their emotional Champions League run, Chelsea take on a struggling Everton squad on Matchday 28 on Saturday.
Against all the odds of how their season has gone, Chelsea have advanced to the final eight of the Champions League. The Blues return to the blues of their league season against a club focused solely on that.
Everton is in survival mode. While the English Premier League table sees Chelsea in a mediocre but safe 10th place, Everton cling to 15th. That’s just three points off the bottom of the table and one from the relegation zone.

After advancing in Europe, US international Christian Pulisic and Chelsea raised their winning streak in all competitions to three last week against Leicester City. That 3-1 lead felt suspect for a while.
After going up 1–0 early on Ben Chilwell’s goal, the Blues had a second João Félix goal disallowed. Three minutes later, Leicester equalized the game. But Kai Havertz scored a critical goal on 46′ just before half time to give his team the 2-1 lead and momentum.
Similarly, Everton just won last week. It was a dream for manager Sean Dyche. Dwight McNeil scored in the first minute and that was it. A 1-0 victory. More juice for the Toffees this week was goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who signed a new long-term deal to stay at the club.
Chelsea won the reverse fixture in this clash, 1-0, with a penalty from now Arsenal midfielder Jorginho.
