Bridgerton Shocker: Phoebe Dynevor leaves after two seasons

Netflix’s Bridgerton is losing another original cast member.

It has been revealed that Phoebe Dynevor will not be returning for the third season of the Regency-era drama.

Dynevor revealed the news to Screenrant during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival.

“Sadly [I’m] not in season 3,” Dynevor told the outlet.

However, she isn’t closing the door on a return, revealing that she could “potentially” appear in future seasons.

Bridgerton Still series premiere

The star said she is “excited to see [Season 3] as a spectator”.

Dynevor co-starred in the freshman season of the hit drama, where he starred opposite Regé-Jean Page.

They played the star-crossed lovers Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings Simon Basset.

Page announced her departure after the first season, leading fans to demand her return.

The actor said that he only signed a one-year contract and had fulfilled it.

Bridgerton was a prominent role.

Initially, Dynevor was also not expected to be a part of the second season.

Phoebe was around for some of the biggest surprises of that season, albeit with significantly reduced screen time.

Bridgerton season 3 will also not include original cast member Ruby Stokes.

The role of Francesca was recast, with Hannah Dodd (Anatomy of a Scandal) taking over.

While the Bridgerton season 3 premiere date is still believed to be some time away, Netflix dropped some plot details last summer.

“Bridgerton returns for its third season to discover that Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-standing crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her final season,” the official synopsis teases.

“However, she has decided that it is time to take a husband, preferably one who will give her enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters.” “But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts at the marriage market fail spectacularly,” the tagline quips.

“Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger.” “But he’s devastated to realize that Penelope, the only person who ever appreciated him for who he was, is turning her back on him.”

“Eager to regain their friendship, Colin offers to guide Penelope on the paths of trust to help her find a husband this season,” Netflix teases.

“But when his lessons start to work too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are really just friendly.”

“Complicating matters for Penelope is her breakup with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in an unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in high society makes it even more difficult to keep her secret her alter ego Lady Whistledown.”
