Boy dies after being shot by another child in suburban Chicago

RIVER GROVE – A boy died Wednesday after he was accidentally shot by another boy at a suburban Chicago home, police said.

River Grove police said they were called to the home around 10 a.m. and found a boy seriously injured after he was accidentally shot in the home by another boy.

The father of the boy who was shot told police he was outside at the time of the shooting. He immediately called 911, WLS-TV reported.

The boy died in a hospital.

Police did not release any other details about the children.

The father told police that he owned the gun and said it was stored on a high shelf in a closet.

The father has a valid state firearm owner identification card and concealed carry license and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
