New images of the upcoming James Cameron sequel Avatar 2: The Water Path (2022) has been introduced, with the film now being described as “the most incredibly complicated film ever made.” But what exactly was seen?

Before we “dive in”, take a look the epic new trailer for Avatar 2: The Water Path down:
During James Cameron’s Digital Day speech, full scenes from the film were shown. Writer/director Liam O’Donnell took to Twitter to discuss what he had seen and had this to say:
“AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER seems to be the most incredibly complicated movie ever made. Holy crap. James Cameron’s Digital Day keynote address just broke my brain.”

He went on to talk about the underwater performances in the film:
“*my brain! Just the amount of data they captured… Underwater performance capture with 15 cameras. 2 cameras in the capture of the face of each actor. Underwater benchmark capture for fully CG creatures. Oh yeah, and infrared depth capture to place CG characters in the live-action footage.”

Clearly moved by what he had seen, O’Donnell goes on at length with a series of follow-up tweets, describing the film as “the edible movie of the decade” and praising the cast and crew for the intense underwater scenes.

Before the launch of Avatar: The Way of Watera remastered version of Avatar (2009) will be re-released in theaters. Remastered elements include picture and sound. Screenings will begin on September 23, 2022.

Avatar 2: The Water Path is scheduled for release in theaters on December 16. It will be released exclusively in theaters, as well as in the following formats: Dolby Cinema, IMAX and IMAX 3D formats.
Avatar 3 It will be released on December 20, 2024. Avatar 4 will follow on December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028, respectively.
