Find out everything you need to know about Glowtail in our ARK: Survival Evolved guide. But also how to catch it, tame it, feed it and raise offspring as well.
Although Glowtail came with the Aberration DLC for ARK: Survival Evolved, you can find it on these maps: Aberration, Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island, and Genesis: Part 2.
This is the Glowtail in ARK: Survival Evolved
Appearance: The Glowtail is a small lizard with a glowing tail tip and two glowing stripes below. It also has wings that allow it to glide through the air.
Wild: GRAMLowtails are friendly creatures that walk on the ground or hang from rocks and walls on the maps written above.
Domesticated: Once you’ve tamed a Glowtail, you can carry it around, sitting on your shoulder. As a shoulder creature, Glowtail is more than just a living lantern, it can also detect and indicate enemy players or creatures (very useful in PVP). On top of that, Glowtail has the ability to show you dinosaurs or creatures with a particularly high level. It also offers protection against the Nameless Ones, but attracts Seekers and Reapers.
Tame the Glowtail in ARK: Survival Evolved
The Glowtail is passively tamed by feeding it the taming food listed below.
To feed the Glowtail, you need to place one of the listed food options in your inventory slot on the far right and approach the little lizard. When it’s close enough, a “Feed ____ to tame” command will appear, which you’ll execute.
You may have to repeat the process several times until you tame the Glowtail.
Food for Glowtails in ARK
Once you have tamed your Glowtail, it is important to know what type of food it likes to eat. Glowtails are carnivorous, which makes it easy to choose food.
Here are the best forage options to tame your Glowtail:
- Plant Species Z Seed (Aberration)
- Ascerbic Fungus (Aberration)
- blackberry seed
- citronella seed
- raw lamb
After taming, you can serve the Glowtail the normal meat menu, just like any other carnivore:
- Raw lamb:
- You get it by gutting Ovis.
- When cooking, it becomes the cooked lamb chop
- Prime raw meat:
- you win by gutting larger creatures
- when cooked, it becomes a grilled steak
- Premium quality raw fish meat:
- Raw meat:
- you get when you gut a carnivore
- cooking it becomes grilled meat
- Raw Fish:
- you get by gutting fish
- when boiling, it becomes boiled fish
How to Breed Glowtails in ARK
This is how the brood is prepared: If you have a male and a female specimen, build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Place both dinosaurs on the pen and set them to “roam” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Match”, but there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the match will stop due to rendering.
The breeding interval for a Glowtail is 18 to 48 hours.
How to hatch eggs: When you get a fertilized Glowtail Egg from a successful mating, hatching begins. To do this, the ambient temperature of the egg must be between 30 °C and 34 °C and inside the Egg Incubator at 32 °C. According to the standard setup, the little baby Glowtail hatches after about 2.5 hours. After that, he needs about 5 hours of your attention, during which you need to keep putting food in his inventory.
Once it attains juvenile status, it can feed itself from feeders. The entire maturation time lasts about 2 days and 1 hour.
