The Kapoor Khandan is known to be a great food lover. And Ranbir Kapoor, part of Bollywood’s first family, is no different.
Now, ahead of the release of Brahmastra, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, an old video of the latter is going viral on social media in which the Wake Up Sid star can be seen talking about how much he loves food and particularly eating beef. The video has circulated on social networks and netizens have criticized the actor for playing the character of Shiva in Brahmastra while he ate that food. A section of social media users have even called for a boycott of Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Brahmastra, citing that the actor has been visiting temples, etc., just as a PR ploy to promote his film. However, another section of social media users quickly came to Ranbir’s rescue to clarify that the actor is not talking about beef.
The decade-old video has become the talk of the internet. It was during promotions for his movie Rockstar that Ranbir appeared as a guest on one of the food talk shows and expressed that he likes to eat beef.

‘Ranbir Kapoor beef khata hai. Yhi Brahmastra ka hero hai. #BoycottBrahmastra,” one Twitter user wrote, while another tweeted: “We will no longer fund actors who eat beef. #Brahmastra #BoycottBrahmastra.’ Another Twitter user shared a clip from the movie Rockstar of Ranbir in which he is seen reciting some mantras but in a funny way to make fun of a character in the movie. “Please watch #RanbirKapoor mocking the Hindu mantra in his Rockstar movie! The big guy has always disrespected Hinduism and now he’s making drama by visiting temples for PR @GemsOfBollywood #BoycottBramhastra #RanbirKapoor #aliabhatt #Brahmastra #BoycottBollywood # SupportGemsofBollywood,” the user wrote while sharing the video. “A meat eater like #RanbirKapoor, after self-declaring that he likes to eat ‘meat’ like Peshawar, shouldn’t be allowed in places of worship that are holy to us Hindus. RK also has no right to make a movie about our God.” . . How dare he go to the temple wearing #BoycottBrahmastra,” another user tweeted.

#RanbirKapoor He clearly said that he likes meat and is a great kind of meat in an interview. How can a person who eats beef be a Hindu? And why is this non-Hindu being allowed to work on a film depicting the Hindu god Shiva? Boycott this guy. #BoycottBhramastra #BoycottBollwood #BoycottBramhastra pic.twitter.com/Y4bcTmKDxQ– Sanatani Chad (@sanatani_chad) August 29, 2022
We love the cow. we Hindus don’t even allow leather goods in our temples. & #RanbirKapoor he eats beef, he does puja on opening eve to promote his movies, so with our hard earned money he will enjoy beef.
So ban the narcissistic gang from Bollywood.#boycottbrahmastrafilm pic.twitter.com/KH6NKICjUr—Arnab Goswami (@GoswamiArnab3) August 29, 2022
Yes #ranbirkapoor I can proudly say that I am a ‘BIF BEEF GUY’, so we will proudly say #BoycottBramhastra .@aliaa08 @DharmaMovies @SrBachchan . Ranbir can go to Peshawar to present her film! pic.twitter.com/wcJYOFsIEu— ANKIT TYAGI (@attyagi07) August 30, 2022
Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra is the latest film to become the target of the boycott trend. Previously, Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandha, among others, have been subject to this trend for various reasons.
Speaking of Brahmastra, the official trailer synopsis reads: “BRAHMĀSTRA: PART ONE, is the story of SHIVA, a young man and our protagonist, who is on the verge of an epic love, with a girl named Isha. But his world turns upside down, because Shiva learns that he has a mysterious connection with the Brahmāstra… and a great power within him that he does not yet understand: the power of Fire.”
Brahmastra, financed by Dharma Productions and Star Studios, will be released in theaters on September 9 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. SS Rajamouli, who has directed blockbusters like the Baahubali franchise and RRR, will present the film in all South Indian languages.
