The first reviews for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are here, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the highly anticipated sequel.
Acting as a direct sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a synopsis for the film teases: “After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, friendly full-time Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted through from the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People tasked with protecting his very existence.
“However, when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles faces off against the other spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves the most.”
It won’t be the last time that Marvel lovers traverse the Spider-Verse with a third movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is already in the works and will be released in March 2024.

So what can fans expect from the iconic hero’s latest outing? Early reactions shared by those lucky enough to see the film hailed it as a “total blast” with many praising its “darker than expected” narrative.
After seeing an early screening of the film, Collider’s Steven Weintraub tweeted: “Absolutely loved Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I wanted to pause about a hundred times to study the incredible art on display. I can’t recommend this movie highly enough and can’t wait to see it again. Next time in @IMAX!”
Sean O’Connell of CinemaBlend echoed the sentimentwriting: “OK. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse lives a step above Masterpiece. It’s a true work of art.
