Subject: – On the introduction of online account opening and closing through DOP Internet Banking for Public Provident Fund (PPF) Accounts.
Lady, sir,
In accordance with providing more digital transaction facilities to POSB customers, the undersigned is directed to say that online account opening and closing for the Public Provident Fund (PPF) has been introduced in the Internet Banking of the PDO. Now DOP Internet Banking users can open and close their PPF account online. For more details, please read the FAQ available at the link https://ebanking.indiapost.gov.in
2. The option to open and close the Public Provident Fund (PPF) account is available in the ‘General services‘DOP Internet Banking tab. The user of Internet Banking must follow the procedure prescribed below to open and close a PPF account: –
(a) Procedure for opening the PPF Account: –
- Sign in to DOP Internet Banking
- ‘General services’
- ‘Service requests’
- ‘New Requests’
- PPF Accounts – Open a PPF Account
- Deposit amount (Enter the amount for which the PPF account will be opened with a minimum of Rs 500 or more in a multiple of Rs 50 up to Rs 1,50,000/-
- Debit account (select linked purchase order savings account)
- Click ‘Click here’ to read the terms and conditions and accept the terms and conditions
- send online
- Enter the transaction password
- Send.
- View/Download Deposit Receipt.
Note: – (Yo) Please log in again to see the details of the open PPF account under ‘Accounts’.
(iii) The PPF account will be opened in the name of the DOP Internet Banking user and the applicant will be the same registered in the linked PO savings account.
(b) Procedure for Closing the PPF Account: –
- Sign in to DOP Internet Banking
- ‘General services’
- ‘Service requests’
- ‘New Requests’
- Closure of PPF Accounts
- Deposit account (select PPF account to close)
- Credit account (select the savings account from the linked purchase order)
- send online
- Enter the transaction password
- Send.
- View/Download Closing Receipt.
Note:- (i) Please log out and log in again to view the details of the closed PPF account.
(ii) Only the overdue account can be closed under this option.
(iii) Since early closing is allowed under specific conditions, for early closing, please submit the account closing form, passbook and relevant documents to the relevant post office.
3. These instructions are requested to be circulated to all post offices for information and guidance. Adequate promotion of this functionality should be given for the benefit of POSB customers.
4. The Hindi version of this SB order will be issued in due course.
