A new version of Proton Experimental connects NVAPI for many games on Linux

Proton Experimental has a new release as of September 20 which, as usual, fixes a few bugs, but also makes a pretty big change by enabling NVIDIA NVAPI for a long list of games.

Here are the fixes:

  • Fix black texture issues in BeamNG.drive.
  • Fix upside down videos in VRChat and many other games.
  • Fix Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies and multiplayer hanging on exit.
  • Fix Bail or Jail Demo crash when opening Terms of Service.

As for the NVAPI being enabled for many games, it means that right out of the box, with this version of Proton Experimental, you should be able to access special NVIDIA features in them, like DLSS.
