📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. Beverly Crest fatal shooting update: Last week, we talked about a fatal shooting on Ellison Drive. An update on Sunday told us that the three victims were identified as women between the ages of 26 and 33. According to police, “this was a shootout where the victims were shot.” Authorities do not believe it was an active shooter incident. Police are still working with surviving witnesses to identify a suspect. (Patch, KTLA)
  2. Last week, we talked about the man dubbed the Tesla bomber who had been vandalizing other drivers’ cars with a pipe. On Sunday, A 36-year-old man was arrested “driving a Tesla Model X on State Route 2.” He was duly listed as an assault suspect and with “two unspecified outstanding warrants for his arrest.” (Patch, my Motherlode)
  3. In early December, a man robbed a pregnant woman, at gunpoint, of her two French bulldogs. She was accompanying them in the 4100 block of Kraft Avenue. On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Glendale. The puppies were already safe at home; you may remember that they were given to a woman in Hollywood, who then called the owners. (Patch, NBC)
  4. Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a structure fire at 7301 North Lennox Avenue Friday evening. They found a “two-story garden-style apartment building” and were able to see a fire in one unit. Although 46 firefighters bravely fought the blaze, it ended up affecting four units. “The fire in the source unit spread laterally to three units and up to the penthouse.” After putting out the flames, they found that a total of five units were damaged by fire or by smoke and water. Eleven people, including children, were displaced, but no one was injured. At this time, authorities believe the fire started in the attic. (LAFD)
  5. We live in a country of earthquakes. Do you have an emergency kit? The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) reminded residents Sunday that while their teams “will be there to help restore affected water and power services in the fastest and safest way possible”, you need an emergency kit to deal with the immediate consequences of any natural disaster. (LADWP)
